(Wisconsin Radio Network) At the Capitol, Democrats hope to fill gaps in case of a federal funding freeze.
According to the Wisconsin Radio Network, Legislation introduced Tuesday would require the State Legislature to convene in special session should the President use an executive order to freeze previously approved federal funding for Wisconsin.
The bill would use the state’s rainy-day fund to provide what sponsors call a “safety net” to cover funding interruptions. The measure prioritizes funding for essential services.
It would need to pass through the Republican-controlled Assembly and Senate before making it to Governor Tony Evers’ desk.
