The Clark County Sheriff’s Department is warning of an IRS scam hitting the area.
Scammers are impersonating the IRS to steal your money and personal information. They may call or text you, claiming you owe taxes and demanding immediate payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or prepaid debit cards.

The IRS will NEVER:
- Call to demand payment without first mailing a bill.
- Threaten to arrest, deport, or revoke your driver’s license.
- Demand payment via gift cards or wire transfers.
- Ask for credit or debit card details over the phone.
If you receive a suspicious call:
- Hang up immediately / Do not click on text message links.
- Do NOT give out personal or financial information.
- Report the call to the IRS at www.irs.gov and the FTC at www.ftc.gov/complaint.
