Local Students Place at SkillsUSA Competition

SkillsUSA Wisconsin, a partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce, announced the results of its regional competition held on Thurs. Feb. 27 and Fri. Feb. 28, at the University of Wisconsin–Stout in Menomonie, WI.
Some local winners include:
Precision Machining Technology:
- Third Place: Ethan Flannery, Marshfield Senior High School
Prepared Speech:
- First Place: Benjiman Romatowski, Lincoln High School-Wisconsin Rapids
Team Engineering Challenge - High School:
- First Place: Daniel Gibertson, Maxxon Olson, and Lucas Zijlstra, Marshfield Senior High School
Urban Search and Rescue:
- Second Place: Zayden Killian and Keegan Ottum, Black River Falls High School
Welding:
- First Place: Nash Sullivan, Lincoln High School-Wisconsin Rapids
- Third Place: Croix Kawleski, Lincoln High School-Wisconsin Rapids
Those who place in the regional competition advance to participate in the 52nd annual SkillsUSA Wisconsin State Leadership and Skills Conference in Madison, on Tues., April 1, and Wed., April 2.
Other competitors in the category can participate in the State Leadership and Skills Conference until the maximum number of competitors in the category is reached.
State competitions will occur at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, and Madison Area Technical College (MATC), 1701 Wright St.
