Wisconsin's Agricultural Prices Report for January 2025

(Blake Jackson, Wisconsin Ag Connection) The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service has released its Agricultural Prices report, detailing the average prices received by Wisconsin farmers for key commodities in January 2025.

According to Blake Jackson with the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the average price for corn stood at $4.19 per bushel, marking a 16-cent increase from December but a 26-cent decline from January 2024.

Soybeans averaged $9.92 per bushel, which was 39 cents higher than December’s price but $2.68 lower than the previous year’s January price. Oat prices reached an average of $3.60 per bushel in January, reflecting a 37-cent rise from December but a 64-cent decrease compared to January 2024.

Wisconsin’s hay prices also saw a downward trend. The overall average for all hay types was $132.00 per ton, down $8.00 from December and $22.00 lower than January 2024.

Alfalfa hay was priced at $142.00 per ton, decreasing by $10.00 from the previous month and $57.00 from the same period last year. Other hay averaged $84.00 per ton, a drop of $9.00 from December and $70.00 from January 2024.

Milk prices, however, experienced an increase. Farmers received an average of $23.90 per cwt, which was $1.50 higher than December and $5.90 above January 2024 levels.
