Final Voting for Name of Mid-State Technical College's Robotic Dog Starts Wednesday

In celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, Mid-State Technical College asked the community for help to name its state-of-the-art robotic dog.

The currently unnamed quadruped robot showcases the future of automation and technology. The robotic dog is used in the Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician program and can build 3D maps using its drone-like capabilities.

It can perform a variety of tricks, including sitting, waving, rolling over and even doing flips. Visitors will have the chance to see the robotic dog’s impressive skills for themselves.

The top three name nominations will be selected by the College on March 5, and those submitters will receive a prize. Final voting will occur on Mid-State’s Facebook page (MidStateTech) from March 5 to 10. The dog’s name will be announced on Mid-State’s social media on March 10.

"Career and Technical Education Month is the perfect time for us to invite the community to visit our locations and experience the cutting-edge, hands-on training that Mid-State students receive," said Jackie Esselman, dean of Recruitment and Admissions.

"This month is all about showcasing the incredible skills and technologies students are learning to use, and we're especially excited to introduce the robot dog technology. It's not just about the innovation, it’s also fun to see the creative names our community comes up with for this exciting piece of tech.”
