City of Marshfield Recognized by United Way at Recent Common Council Meeting
Monday, March 3rd, 2025 -- 10:00 AM

The City of Marshfield received the 2024 Campaign of the Year Medium Business Award from Ashley Winch, Director of the Marshfield Area United Way, at the Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Marshfield Common Council meeting.
Communications Specialist David Ballerstein presented an update on implementing a low-power FM station in the community media division (Marshfield Broadcasting) of the City's Communications Department.
In 2023, a 10-day window opened to apply for an LPFM license, and the City was granted a license on April 9, 2024. However, if the station isn't on the air within 36 months from the given date, the license will be revoked, and there will probably never be another opportunity, according to Ballerstein.
Ballerstein is seeking support through a fundraising campaign that started in February 2025. They recently distributed fundraising and sponsorship materials to the community, planning to raise $28,000 for the station's construction.
The Council approved a budget resolution transferring $47,000 from General Fund Contingency to Fund 205 (economic development) to help pay for part of MACCI's Business Development Director position.
The Council approved the Police Department's purchase of a retired ambulance from the Fire and Rescue Department to utilize in their department for $23,284.
This money will come from the Police Department's automotive equipment expense account as a transfer. Two first readings of ordinance changes were discussed and will be voted on in the second reading at Tuesday, March 11th Council meeting.
Approving a 5-year update to Marshfield Fairgrounds Park Campus Master Plan. Amend the density, intensity, and bulk regulations related to minimum setbacks, lot area requirements, and maximum building coverage of lot requirements.
This was discussed in the Plan Commission on February 18, 2025, and moved forward for Council decision. The Council authorized the City to execute a contract with Cedar Corporation for professional services related to amending the TID #11 project plan in an amount not exceeding $10,000.
TID District #11 is located along the east side of Veteran’s Parkway, just north of Heritage Drive. This project is regarding state plans to relocate its business from Central Avenue to the current TID #11 property and the newly annexed parcel.
This amendment, approved by the Council, is necessary to make public improvements and/or developer incentives possible across the newly annexed land.
