COUNCIL WILL CONSIDER $30,000 GRANT TO FABRICATING SPECIALISTS

Another $30,000 could be going to a company trying to get started in Neillsville.Last night, the Neillsville Economic Development Commission made a recommendation to the City Council that $30,000 of city reserves be granted to Fabricating Specialists a Division of Mayville Engineering Company.
The monies would be in addition to $245,000 already granted to the company to cover start-up costs and serve as a job incentive.
$150,000 of the original amount came from the Listeman Foundation.
Neillsville Mayor Diane Murphy explained last night that Fabricating Specialists ran into some unforeseen start-up costs.
Seeing the initial grant vanquished the city?s Economic Development fund monies, the $30,000 would have to come from the city?s reserves. Murphy says the Listeman Foundation has agreed to pay back the city.
Murphy told us yesterday the city?s agreement with Fabricating Specialists would be changed to require them to hire 62 workers within three years and keep those workers for five years.
The original agreement required them to hire 50 workers in two years.
The City Council will meet next week.
