Friday, February 14th, 2025 -- 1:00 PM

Thorp students Madison Gates and Mackenzie Foster participated in Food Innovation at the FCCLA Star Event.
This project focuses on food science and challenges students to create a food product under certain parameters. This year's prompt tasked the students with making a healthy, low sugar drink using at least one super food.
Madison and Mackenzie utilized dark chocolate, almond milk, oats, and banana to create a post workout drink targeted towards young athletes. For their efforts they received a gold and are advancing to state.
Also, recently, 20 middle and high school FCCLA students competed at their regional competition. They had projects on Food Innovation, Wild Game Fabrication, Cake Decorating, Baking, Repurpose and Redesign, and more.
Out of the 20 competitors, 17 scored high enough that they made it to state.
