(Caitlin Shuda, USA TODAY NETWORK - Wisconsin) Two Joann locations in central Wisconsin are marked to close, bringing the total to 16 location closures in Wisconsin, according to Caitlin Shuda with USA TODAY NETWORK - Wisconsin.
According to joannrestructuring.com, Joann filed a motion Wednesday seeking court authority to begin closing about 500 of its roughly 850 stores across the country.
According to court documents on the website, stores at 1150 Meridian Drive in Plover and 1919 N. Central Ave. in Marshfield are included in the company’s closing motion.
The location at 226830 Rib Mountain Drive in Wausau was not on the list of stores marked for closure. A Joann employee confirmed to a USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin reporter Wednesday afternoon the locations in Plover and Marshfield would close, while the Rib Mountain store would remain open.
A customer frequently asked questions document on Joann's website states if courts approve, all going-out-of-business sales at the stores marked for closure will begin Saturday and will continue for the next several months.
According to Wednesday reports by USA TODAY, Joann first filed for bankruptcy in March 2024 after the company secured about $132 million to put toward its $1 billion in debt, then it marked a list of stores it would close.
Last month, Joann filed again for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and now confirms it plans to close 500 of its roughly 850 stores across the country.
