Wausau Emergency Police Auxiliary Unit Recognized for Total Hours of Volunteer Service
Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 -- 12:01 PM

Lt. Jill Kurtzhals attended the Wausau Emergency Police (WEP) annual awards banquet last night along with other department members.
The Wausau Emergency Police Auxiliary Unit has been providing volunteer service to our community since 1951. Members of the Emergency Police assist at many special events by providing traffic control, pedestrian safety, and being extra eyes and ears for Wausau PD sworn staff.
WEP Director Larry Jaeger presented the department a certificate documenting the total hours of volunteer service provided by WEP members during 2024. That number was nearly 2,380 hours.
They are grateful for their efforts in making Wausau a safer place to be. For information on how to join the Wausau Emergency Police’s team of volunteers, go to https://www.wausauwi.gov/your.../police/community-programs
