Thorp Middle School Students Attend Performance at The American Symphonic Tapestry
Tuesday, February 11th, 2025 -- 10:01 AM

On Wednesday, February 5th, the Thorp Middle School Band and Choir students had the opportunity to attend the performance of The American Symphonic Tapestry by the Minnesota Orchestra at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
The performance is a part of the Minnesota Orchestra’s Young People’s Concert Series. This concert sheds light on some of the lesser-known composers whose musical contributions led to the creation of a unique American flair.
Alongside the well-known George Gershwin, great composers like Florence Price, William Grant Still, and Margaret Bonds were all quintessential in building what we now recognize as the American orchestral sound.
There was a special guest artist on banjo who performed a Louis Armstrong style of “When the Saints Go Marching In” and a bluegrass medley. The concert ended with none other than John Williams as they performed “The Throne Room and End Title” from Star Wars.
