COUNTY CONTRACTS APPEAR SET

This will be an anti-climactic contract negotiation season for Clark County employees.Around 400 of the county?s 600 employees are already under contract through 2009.
The county has floated a proposal to the remaining 200 AFSCME employees that would increase their wages by 2% on January 1, 2009 and 1% on July 1, 2009.
One of the five union groups has already agreed; officials believe the others will follow suit. The unions and the full county board must still officially approve the contracts.
If approved, it would set the stage for an interesting year in 2009, as all the unions? contracts will be up for negotiation.
