Tomah Man Charged for Attempted Homicide

(Lindsay Strom, WEAU) A Tomah man was charged after an attempted homicide on December 31, 2024, according to Lindsay Strom with WEAU.

According to Tomah police, at around 1:15 a.m., Tomah Officers were called to an address on Mary Kay Avenue for a welfare check related to a man, 46-year-old Ryan Goad of Tomah, making comments about killing an elderly man.

Tomah Police say officers arrived on scene and found the victim, an 80-year-old Tomah, Wis. man, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and shoulder. The victim said Ryan Goad had shot him with a handgun and fled the scene.

Goad is charged with:

  • Attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
  • Mayhem with with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
  • 1st degree reckless injury with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
  • 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
  • Aggravated battery - intended great bodily harm with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon;
  • And disorderly conduct with increased penalty for elder person victim and use of a dangerous weapon.

An initial appearance is scheduled for February 17 at 9 a.m.
