Colby-Abbotsford Police Department Warning of Scam Making the Rounds

The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department is warning of a scam making the rounds in the area.

They have been made aware there has been someone claiming to be a representative of the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department making phone calls to people.

The male, in the phone calls that have been reported, had a southern accent.  Other calls may not have the same accent. Do not provide any account information or purchase any gift cards for this person.

Be suspicious of any phone calls like this, whether they are claiming to be from our PD or another law enforcement agency. We do not request payments over the phone nor would a PD demand payment in the form of gift cards or wire transfer.
