Several items will be discussed at Tuesday's January 28, 2025, Common Council meeting, which will occur at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Highlighting a few of the items in the consent agenda section that went through committees/boards needs approval from Council.

  • Authorize a request for proposals for renovating Strohman Park:

The project for renovation of the park was planned in the 2024 budget but it was not accomplished due to time constraints. The park is in memory of a fallen firefighter who served in line-up duty with the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department in 1981.

The project's anticipated cost is $35,000, which would come from room tax fees. Authorization by the Council will allow City staff to seek proposals for the renovation.

  • Approve preliminary resolutions for special assessments:

Sanitary sewer projects Maple Avenue - Central Avenue to 17th Street, and Ash Avenue 5th Street to 9th Street. Included in the resolution are asphalt paving projects.

  • Approve partnership agreement for the Job Center:

The Council budgeted $15,000 for operations in 2025, but recently the Job Center office has been planning to move from the rented office space in the Second Street Community Center, which prompted some questions by members of the Finance, Budget and Personnel that was held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. The item to note is the approval is about extending the agreement through March 31, 2025.

Highlighting a few of the recommended actions that need to be approved by the Council.

  • First reading of amending Chapter 25 of Marshfield Municipal Code (Construction Site Erosion Control):

Several items within the code were changed and approved in the Board of Public Works meeting back on January 6, 2025.

  • Approve a Braem Park wet detention basin project:

In order to complete the design phase of the project, the City needs to borrow $58,300. Because the borrowing schedule is at max capacity for 2025, Finance Director Jennifer Selenski is recommending reducing the amount borrowed for street seal coat and crack filling by the same amount.

Review of the 5-year Financial Plan from a previous presentation.

  • Finance Director Jennifer Selenski will address the 5-year financial plan. Selenski will seek any questions from the Council if they have questions or concerns.
