Proposed Legislation Would Allow Candidates to Remove Themselves From the Wisconsin Ballot
Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 -- 11:00 AM
(Wisconsin Radio Network) Legislation allowing candidates to remove themselves from the ballot in Wisconsin has been proposed.
According to the Wisconsin Radio Network, the Republican authored bill would change state law to allow candidates running for federal or state office to take their name off Wisconsin ballots by submitting a sworn statement to the Wisconsin Elections Commission and paying a fee to remove their name.
The measure comes after the commission denied independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kenndy Jr. his request to be struck from the ballot after suspending his campaign.
Kennedy took his case in Wisconsin to the U.S. Supreme Court, which also rejected his request.
