65-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fire Near Stratford

(WSAW) A 65-year-old woman has been identified as the victim in a house fire in the town of Green Valley near Stratford.
According to WSAW, the fire was reported around 11 p.m. Thursday at a home on County Road C. Investigators said the woman lived at the home. There was a second person inside but they were able to get out.
“We were paged to a call of a structure fire, one person trapped on the inside. We removed that patient and that patient is deceased,” said Capt. Jim Mueller, Stratford Area Fire Department.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Medical Units from Stratford, Spencer, and Marshfield. Assisting Fire units include Stratford, Edgar, McMillian, Hewitt (Wood County), and Wood County RIT.
The Salvation Army and Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted at the scene. It is the state’s third fatal fire since the beginning of the year.
