Neillsville School Board Approves Ballot Order for April 1st School Board Election

The Neillsville School Board drew lots for the ballot order for the School Board election on April 1st at their meeting on Monday.
Incumbent Sue Voigt will be listed first, followed by incumbent Peggy Grap, and finally the third and new candidate, Herman Seebandt, will be listed third. The election will be held April 1st and it will be vote for no more than two.
A building project update was presented by Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, and Bailey Merrill from Wendel Companies.
The Board also approved the bid from Back to Nature Tree Service, LLC, for an amount not to exceed $78,000 for tree removal around the track. They’re doing this because the roots could cause issues on the track later on.
The Board also approved the open enrollment program limits and the boys’ and girls’ hockey co-op as presented. The Board also approved two early graduation requests.
The Board also approved the 2025-2026 High School In-House Course Catalog with modifications, the summer school class schedule for the 2025 summer school session, the annual safety drill report, and the 2025-2026 school year calendar.
In employment matters, the Board approved the hiring of Kristina Wernke for a teaching assistant position, the leave of absence from Taylor Townsend, the Memorandum of Understanding from Melissa Strangfeld, and the initial adoption of Policy Section 3000.
The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

- Hydroponic garden;
- And Aimsweb Plus literacy screener.
Middle School Principal Jesse Bernhagen reported on:
- Attendance;
- Monthly character trait;
- Academic achievement;

- Three climate/culture student activities;
- Mix-It-Up Day;
- MS ACP Night activities;
- And a sports update.
High School Principal Jennifer Aspenson reported on:
- Enrollment;
- HS course handbook updates;
- Mix-It-Up Day;
- ACP Night;
- FFA activities;
- And the upcoming musical production – High School Musical.
Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on:
- ACP Night;
- Thank you letters;
- A press release from Clark County Health Department;
- And the district’s social media report card.
