(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A new complaint has been filed against Wausau Mayor Doug Diny, months after the city's ballot drop box fiasco.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, a news release from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign says the eight residents are calling on the city's ethics commission to investigate the Mayor's actions in late September when he wheeled an unsecured, locked dropbox into his office on a weekend.
Diny says he brought the metal box into his office for safekeeping, though the city clerk said she intended to have it installed and opened for use the next Monday.
The complaint says the mayor overstepped his authority and called his actions unethical and "a crime." Diny hasn't responded to the complaint, and it's unclear if the city's ethics commission will take up the matter.
The issue is also being investigated at the state level, the status of that investigation is unclear.
