The man accused of killing three people in New Lisbon had his cash bond set at $5 million in court on Friday. According to WMTV in Mauston, Virgil Thew, 47, is accused of three charges of first-degree intentional homicide, and additional charges were also included. He now faces three charges of hiding a corpse, possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, taking and driving a vehicle without consent and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.
He appeared in Juneau County Justice Center Friday for a bail bond hearing. If he posts bond, he is not allowed to have any contact with the family members of the victims. The judge agreed that $5 million was appropriate, noting the suspect’s past criminal history.
He is set to appear in court again on Feb. 13 for an initial appearance. If convicted, he faces a lifetime sentence in prison.
