Man Accused of Stealing Several Cattle Sentenced in Jackson County Court

(WEAU, WEAU Staff) A man accused of stealing several cattle was sentenced in Jackson County Court on Wednesday.

According to WEAU staff, the criminal complaint states that authorities received a report of a suspected cattle theft at Steers and Ears, L.L.C., located at N9577 County Highway F, in the Town of Alma.

The criminal complaint says footage showed Jennings Christenson on the property. Christenson is accused of using a truck and a trailer to take seven cattle, valued at $18,200.

According to the criminal complaint, Christenson is also accused of trying to sell the cattle at Premier Livestock in Withee, Wis. The stolen cattle were recognized by their ear tags.

They were recovered and returned to Steers and Ears, L.L.C. The criminal complaint says Christenson admitted to borrowing a truck and a trailer to steal cattle.

Christenson said he knew he was caught when people started pointing at him at Premier Livestock. Christenson was taken into custody. Christenson was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, theft of movable property - special facts.

Two other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to three years of probation with a condition of 45 days jail time.
