NEILLSVILLE GRAD HOME FROM IRAQ
Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 -- 11:27 AM
Back home from Iraq for some R & R, a Neillsville graduate says he appreciates life in the States a bit more now."I really do. I really do," says Charlie Brosnahan, a 2005 Neillsville High School graduate, "Their highly paid people live as well as some of our poorly paid people in the states."
"You just see how better we have things over here."
He is active-duty U.S. Army, serving in the engineer corps.
He's served near Baghdad for the past ten months.
"The insurgents that are over there aren't making it any easier for anyone to live. My job is to provide living quarters for someone to patrol an area, or something of that sort," Brosnahan explains.
All and all, things are going well. Morale is pretty good, and some Iraqi citizens are supportive.
"I see the people over there. A few of them do like us, a few of them don't like us. We have our ups and downs being there. But, the way of living (for the Iraqis) with us being there is outstanding compared to how it was when they were under different command," he says.
Brosnahan is stateside for a few days of vacation. He'll go back to Iraq soon. He expects to be there through the end of the year.
