(Wisconsin Radio Network) Does Voter ID need to be in the Wisconsin Constitution?
According to the Wisconsin Radio Network, photo ID has been required to vote in Wisconsin since being signed into law by former Governor Scott Walker in 2011.
Republicans who control the Legislature want to prevent Voter ID from being repealed by enshrining it in the Constitution. A measure to do that passed both chambers in the last session.
With lawmakers back in Madison for a new session, the state Senate is scheduled to vote this week on final passage, with the Assembly following up next week to place the question on the April ballot statewide.
