Marshfield Man Arrested in Connection With Jackson County Bank Robberies

Monday, January 6th, 2025 -- 1:01 PM

(WEAU, WEAU Staff) A second person is facing charges in connection with two Jackson County bank robberies that occurred in 2018.

According to WEAU staff, a criminal complaint shows 24-year-old Alexander Pongratz of Marshfield is facing two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery of a financial institution.

A prior criminal complaint shows 26-year-old Michaela Davis of Medford is facing two counts of robbery of a financial institution. On Dec. 18, Davis admitted to robbing the Jackson County banks in Black River Falls and Alma Center.

According to the criminal complaint regarding Pongratz’s charges, Davis was spotted with a man on surveillance camera at a Walmart prior to the robberies. In an interview with authorities, Davis identified the man as Alexander Pongratz.

In an interview, Michaela said she picked Pongratz up prior to the robberies and that Pongratz picked the banks to rob. In an interview with Pongratz, Pongratz at first said that he didn’t know Davis, but after being shown an image of them together at Walmart, he admitted it was him.

In an interview, Pongratz stated he had no recollection of any robbery. Authorities searched phone records and found text messages between the two discussing a robbery. Online court records show an initial appearance for Pongratz is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2025.
