Due to City of Marshfield budget cuts for 2025, the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library will no longer be open on Sundays beginning January 5, 2025.

They recognize that their tradition of being open on Sundays during the school year was valued by many members of the community, whether they used these hours to study or for relaxation.

Unfortunately, city budget constraints left them with no other reasonable options. Very few libraries in the state are open on Sundays. They reviewed the numbers from all angles and found that Sundays are routinely the day that the Library is used least, by a considerable amount.

All City of Marshfield sections have had to make considerable cuts to make the 2025 budget feasible. For their part, the Library will be closed on Sundays, and they will, regretfully, have to cut a staff position as well.

There are many more cuts they had to make, but these are the two largest and most impactful for both their staff and patrons. This certainly isn’t the news they wanted to lead with going into the new year, but they look forward to serving you the other six days of the week in 2025.
