The individual accused of stabbing his two children to death in Abbotsford appeared in Clark County Court on Wednesday.
The stabbing occurred on the 300 block of E. Oak St in the city of Abbotsford back in July. The victims include two juveniles with stab wounds who were found deceased on scene and one adult female victim with stab wounds, who received medical care.
The suspect was found on scene and taken into custody. The suspect, Victor Manuel Gomez Acosta of Abbotsford, was medically cleared and is in custody at the Clark County Jail.
He’s being held on a $1 million bond and is facing charges of two counts of homicide and one count of attempted homicide. Each of those charges carries an automatic life sentence.
His attorney requested a competency exam and, back in September, he was found not competent to stand trial, but a judge ruled he could gain competency and his court proceedings could continue.
A judge ruled he was now competent on Wednesday and Gomez Acosta entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on January 29th for a preliminary hearing.
Clark County Communications received a 911 call on July 5th at approximately 1:38 am concerning a female stab victim. Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
The adult female stab victim was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center for treatment of her stab injuries. Gomez Acosta was found inside the residence where the incident occurred and was apprehended at the crime scene.
Law Enforcement on scene located the two deceased juvenile victims inside the residence. Central EMS was on scene to provide care. Gomez Acosta was transported to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department where self-inflicted stab wounds were discovered.
Central EMS were called to the Police Department. Gomez Acosta was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The identity of the juvenile victims were not released by the authorities. The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.
They were assisted by The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Wisconsin State Patrol, Clark County District Attorney’s Office, Clark County Coroner’s Office, and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.
