(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wisconsin Rapids man accused of trying to run someone over with his pickup last year was sentenced in Portage County Court on Wednesday.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Luis Rodriguez-Moreno was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, aggravated battery-intended bodily harm. Another charge was dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion.
He was placed on 3 years of probation. Investigators say he ran over the victim outside a home in Plover, then kicked the victim in the head while he was down. The victim, who survived the incident, was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries to his leg and face.
They also noticed tire marks on his clothing. Investigators add that the incident occurred during a heated phone conversation. The victim, who has not been identified, stepped out of the home to take the call, and that’s when he noticed a pickup speeding toward him.
Rodriquez-Moreno initially admitted to kicking the victim but denied running him over with his vehicle.
