Items of Note on Tomorrow’s Marshfield Common Council Agenda
Monday, December 16th, 2024 -- 10:00 AM

The Marshfield Common Council will meet on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 7pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Some items of note at tomorrow’s meeting include authorizing seeking bids for the Braem Park pickleball court lights project. The courts were built in 2024, but lights were removed from the project to make the budget.
Provisions are in place to install light poles, fixtures, wiring & controls. Visit Marshfield was generous enough to contribute $80,000 toward new lights for the City.
Also, authorizing seeking bids for the Braem Park softball field construction project. The project includes removing and replacing the field, fence, light poles, concrete, asphalt, dugouts, bleachers, benches, backstop, grading, and infield mix.
The budget for the softball field project is $295,000, which includes A&E services, direct purchases (i.e., benches, trash cans, bleachers), and the actual construction of the new facility.
The Communications Department director will also present a new strategic plan for 2025-2027. The plan provides a vision to build a pathway between local government and the community. Their job is to inform, educate, and promote the City of Marshfield and our partners through various media channels.
A Request to approve Resolution No. 2024-49, changing the public fire protection charge calculation method. Instead of using a structure's square footage, the calculation would be based on water infrastructure entering the structure.
Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MACCI) requested confirmation of the commitment made under approved motion CC24-285 to provide funds for the Business Development Director position. The Council set aside the funding for the position until hiring a new development director in 2025.
Finally, City Administrator Steve Barg will discuss the plans to develop a new strategic plan for the City beginning in 2025 and, in a separate agenda item, he will provide the latest update on developing plans for the spring referendum for hiring two additional firefighters/paramedics.
