Merrillan Woman Arrested for 7th OWI

(WEAU Staff) One person is accused of a 7th OWI offense following a traffic stop in Jackson County, according to WEAU staff.
According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 10, 2024, at around 12:46 a.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible intoxicated driver leaving a gas station in the City of Black River Falls.
The press release says the witness reported the car leaving the parking lot after almost striking a pole. A deputy with the Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle matching the description. Due to witnessing poor driving, the deputy conducted a traffic stop.
The driver was identified to be 43-year-old Nichole Waughtal of Merrillan. According to the press release, Waughtal showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.
Waughtal was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on the suspicion of operating while intoxicated 7th offense.
