Wisconsin Rapids Man Charged with Attempted Homicide Found Guilty in a Jury Trial

Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 -- 2:00 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) The Wisconsin Rapids man accused of attempted homicide was found guilty on Tuesday in a trial that lasted just a few hours.

Court records show a jury found Tommy Ehrisman guilty after deliberating for just 23 minutes. The trial got underway with opening statements at 10:30 AM. Records show just two witnesses were called to the stand, including one officer who investigated the case.

Ehrisman did not testify. Jurors were given final instructions at 1:30 PM and exited to deliberate shortly before 2:00. They returned a verdict at 2:21. The 66-year-old was also found guilty of one count of strangulation or suffocation.

The court will reconvene on Wednesday for the second trial phase, which will examine Ehrisman’s not guilty by reason of insanity plea. The trial is scheduled to run through Thursday.
