During the city council meeting on November 26th, the Neillsville Police Department announced the promotion of Patrol Investigator Hunter Imm to the rank of Sergeant and Patrolman Derek Wheatley to Corporal.

Sergeant Imm began his law enforcement career with the Cadott and Boyd Police Department before joining the Neillsville Police Department in 2020 as part of the department’s rebuilding team. In addition to his administrative duties, Sergeant Imm will continue to serve as the department's investigator. He received his sergeant's star from Retired Police Chief Louie Eslinger of the Cadott and Boyd Police Department. Corporal Wheatley also has a solid law enforcement background, having started his career at the Marathon County Sheriff's Office and the Stratford Police Department. He joined the Neillsville Police Department in 2022 and is currently assigned to the night shift. As a Corporal, he will take on the role of night lead officer, along with his administrative responsibilities and field training for new hires. Corporal Wheatley received his corporal's star from Retired Police Chief Tim Miller of the Stratford Police Department.

The Neillsville Police Department is committed to continually improving its services and fostering a safe, respectful, and equitable environment for all community members. They focus on three key areas to enhance our department: Community Engagement, Training and Development, and Accountability and Transparency. They recognize that the journey of improvement is ongoing, and they are committed to being responsive, adaptable, and proactive in implementing meaningful changes. Their goal is not just to enforce the law but to uphold the values of justice, fairness, and respect for all individuals. With the support of the community, they can make the department a model of excellence in public service. They appreciate the efforts and support of the Personnel Committee and the Police and Fire Commission regarding these promotions.
