Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department Receives Employer Award of Excellence

The Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department has been honored with the Employer Award of Excellence from the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (NCWWDB).
The award was presented during the Winning with Wisconsin’s Workforce event, held on September 12, 2024, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Wausau. The Employer of Excellence Award recognizes an outstanding employer in North Central Wisconsin who supports the local workforce development system and utilizes its resources;
Builds a skilled workforce through transformation and innovation; fosters collaborative community or sector workforce strategies to strengthen the regional economy.
The Wausau & Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department was recognized for its partnership with the Job Center of Wisconsin, where they have mentored and hired young workers into careers in park and forestry management.
“We are truly honored to receive this award,” said Andrew Sims, Assistant Director of Operations for the Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department.
“The North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board has been an invaluable partner in helping us meet our workforce needs, ensuring we continue to provide high-quality recreational opportunities for the residents and visitors of Marathon County.”
