Marshfield Common Council’s New 5th District Alderman Says He’s Ready to Get to Work
Monday, November 18th, 2024 -- 4:00 PM
The Marshfield Common Council approved the new 5th District Alderman at their recent meeting.
I had an opportunity to speak with Scott Koran and he explained why he decided to run for the position and what he hopes to accomplish being on the Council.
Riley: "What made you decide to run for the open 5th District Alderman position?"
Scott: "Honestly, the departure of Ed Wagner, who had been a long time Council Memeber, and once he decided to leave I just, more or less, thought it was the time to step up. I have three grown children that live in Marshfield."
"And I guess just thought it was important to give them the same opportunities I had growing up here. It was a pretty fantastic town from my youth. I think it still is. And I just want to blend whatever input I have from the process to make sure it stays that way."
Riley: "Is there anything you hope to accomplish during your time on the Council?"
Scott: "Well, right now I'm just getting up to speed. Even though I've watched Council meetings for years, and followed most of the major issues closely, there's so much behind the scenes. So, I'm in my learning stage."
"I don't think I've ever read so much since college; and meeting with department heads and just finding out what they think are important issues, problems, things that we're doing really well. Just kind of learing through that and that's what I'll be doiing over the next few weeks is learing from all the Department heads."
Riley: "Is there anything else you'd like residents of the 5th District of Marshfield to know?"
Scott: That I've been a lifelong resident of Marshfield, born and raised here. Just a few year out of town to go to school. I've owned Roger's Cinema since 2011. I've worked here since the early 2000s and I'm just trying to make Marshfield the best town that it can be."
Scott replaced former alderman Ed Wagner.
