Neillsville Man Charged With Child Neglect After Shooting Incident Involving His Children

A Neillsville man has been charged for neglecting a child after the child discovered his handgun and injured her sister.
According to court records, the daughter of the man was looking for a book when she discovered 29-year-old Brandon Woods’ handgun under the couch cushions.
She thought it was a toy and pointed it at her sister when it went off and injured her sister. She was taken to Marshfield Medical Center and treated for her injury. The daughter had claimed this wasn’t the first time she had found Woods’ gun, but she didn’t use it.
Woods is facing charges of neglecting a child with the consequence of bodily harm, neglecting a child with no harm and the child being less than six years old, and leaving/storing a loaded firearm near a child. He’s scheduled to be in court on December 16th.
