Stanley Police Department Accepting Donations of Nonperishable Food Items
Monday, November 18th, 2024 -- 8:01 AM
During the months of November and December, the Stanley Police Department will be accepting donations of nonperishable food items at the police department and/or city hall.
All items received during this time will be donated to the local food pantry. They understand the importance of this service within the community and find it especially fitting to offer any assistance that they can during the holiday season.
If you donate at least one item to the food drive, you will be given the opportunity to nominate a person/family that you believe is deserving of a free holiday meal. The meals will consist of a turkey or ham along with all of fixing’s (with a value of $60 for each meal).
Winners of the free holiday meals are selected through a random drawing. A member of the police department will reach out to those selected to confirm their interest in a meal.
They will then shop for all items and deliver the meals to those selected within the Stanley-Boyd area. Since 2018, they have been able to collect and proudly donate more than 8,900 pounds of food and non-perishable items to the local food pantry.
In addition, they have also had the privilege of delivering more than 160 meals to families within the Stanley-Boyd communities as a result of the generous donors. Please consider donating and paying it forward to those less fortunate.
If you are an individual or business owner and are interested in donating to this cause to help cover the cost of the meals they are hoping to provide, please call, stop in, or message their Facebook page and someone will be in touch with you.
