Wisconsin Rapids Police Department Responds to Incident at Washington Elementary on Tuesday

The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department responded to an incident at the Washington Elementary School in Wisconsin Rapids.
On Tuesday, November 12th, at 11:53am, the Department responded to the school to investigate a threatening phone call received by school staff from an anonymous individual.
Members of the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department worked diligently to determine the source of the threat and a location the threat may have been made from.
Due to the nature of the threat, the Department had an increased presence at Washington Elementary in the afternoon. Throughout the investigation, detectives with the Department were able to identify and locate the phone used to make the threat as well as the suspect.
As a result of the investigation, Grecia Aguirre, a Wisconsin Rapids resident, was taken into custody and booked into the Wood County Jail. Aguirre will be referred to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for felony charges of swatting and terrorist threats.
The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department was assisted by the Wisconsin Rapids School District and the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
