Marshfield Police Department Assisting Price County Sheriff’s Office with Death Investigation of a Marshfield Woman

The Price County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to follow up on any and all leads pertaining to the investigation of the deceased individual found in the area of State Highway 13 and Whitby Road in the Township of Hackett.
Price County Sheriff Brian Schmidt is asking for the public’s help with this investigation. If you were traveling on State Highway 13 near Whitby Road on November 3, 2024, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and noticed anything suspicious, or if you were traveling on State Highway 13 near Whitby Road and your vehicle is equipped with a dash camera, you are asked to contact the Price County Sheriff’s Office at (715) 339-3011.
Price County Sheriff Brian Schmidt reports the deceased individual along State Highway 13 in the Township of Hackett on November 3, 2024, has been identified as Blanca Jesenia Hernandez Portocarrero, a 28 year old female from Marshfield, Wisconsin.
The cause of her death is being investigated as being related to a domestic violence incident. The investigation showed Hernandez Portocarrero was killed in the City of Marshfield.
Marshfield Police Chief Jody Geurink reports on November 11, 2024, his department arrested a 38 year old male subject in connection to Hernandez Portocarrero’s death and this male subject is currently being held on charges of suspicion of 1 st degree Intentional Homicide.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, Vilas County Sheriff’s Office-K9 unit, Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Park Falls Police Department, Phillips Police Department, Rhinelander Police Department-K9 unit,
Prentice Fire Department, Price County Coroner’s Office, Wisconsin State Wide Intelligence Center, Wisconsin Department of Justice-Crime Response Specialists, Wood County District Attorney’s Office, and Price County District Attorney’s Office.
Sheriff Schmidt and Chief Geurink would also like to thank all of the citizens who took the time to meet with and assist law enforcement during this investigation. This is still an ongoing investigation, and no additional information will be released at this time.
