Wisconsin American Village Looking for Central Wisconsin Families to Host Korean Children

Friday, November 1st, 2024 -- 10:01 AM

Wisconsin American Village is looking for central Wisconsin families to host Korean elementary and middle school children for two months, from Dec. 31, 2024, to Feb. 28, 2025, as part of the Korean Winter Exchange Program.

This program is open to families from throughout central Wisconsin, including areas such as Neillsville, Greenwood, Loyal, Augusta, Merrillan, Durand, Eau Claire and other areas like Colby and Abbotsford. The program lasts about eight weeks.

Families with children are preferred, but families without children will also be considered. “We will compensate for your time, energy, and love of Korean children as well as your children and yourselves,” wrote Rev. Dong Su Lee, program coordinator, in a press release. Compensation is $1,000 for four weeks and $2,000 for eight weeks.

If you are interested in this great opportunity to know Korean kids and culture, contact Rev. Dong Su Lee, who served as pastor of the Neillsville, Greenwood and Granton United Methodist churches from 2007-2013.

He is now retired, but is working on his master’s thesis on the Lao-South Korea Exchange Program. You can reach him by email or phone: [email protected] and 715-254-5328.
