New Gender-Neutral Options for Wisconsin Birth Certificates
Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 -- 8:02 AM
(Bob Hague, WRN) Wisconsin parents have some new, gender-neutral options, for what appears on their children's birth certificates.
Starting July 1, state birth forms used to generate birth certificates will have gender-neutral options for identifying the parents of a child. Options will include "mother-father," "parent-parent" and "parent giving birth."
Governor Tony Evers said the change reflects his and his administration's commitment to gender-neutral terminology and to recognizing that Wisconsin families are diverse and should be valued and respected.
