Man Involved in Wood County High Pursuit Appears in Wood County Court
Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 -- 2:00 PM
The man involved in a Wood County high speed pursuit and firing at law enforcement this summer appeared in Wood County Court.
During a vehicle pursuit on August 20th, Clinton Mayotte fired at five or more law enforcement officers while attempting to flee. It is clear that Mayotte was not just firing at officers to deter officers from pursuing him, but to try and kill them.
Thankfully, no officers were struck or injured during this outrageous violent act that spanned over several miles. Mayotte was shot by an officer after a standoff while he continued to fire at officers.
Mayotte was treated by these same officers that he was trying to kill and then transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated. On September 3rd, Mayotte stood in front of the Honorable Nicholas Brazeau, Jr who placed him on a high cash bond of $2.11 million dollars.
Mayotte is facing five counts of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer, felon in possession of a firearm, battery, and domestic abuse.
During his court appearance on Monday, he waived his preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on January 28th.
