Visitors to Wausau City Hall Will Now be Greeted With Digital Concierge

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) Visitors to Wausau City Hall will now be greeted with a digital concierge.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, the city has employed an ALICE kiosk to notify employees when they have visitors or appointments. City Clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde says residents shouldn’t take it as a sign that city employees don’t want to chat with them.
Rather, it’s a way of helping employees be efficient and safe in their workspace. “People who live and work in Wausau will still have access to City Hall and whoever they want to meet with,” said Bernarde.
“We just want to make sure [our employees know] who is roaming the halls or coming to see them, so they can assist.” The touch screen gives visitors the option to call the person they want to meet with or check-in for appointments.
The machine will print them a visitor’s pass with their picture, then someone will come downstairs to escort them to their meeting. If an employee isn’t available, the visitor can leave a message.
The kiosk can also serve as an information portal with access to the full city website. Bernarde says that means things like voter registration, leaf or garbage pickup schedules, and parking information can be found right from the screen.
The machine can also accept payments for things like water bills. Those who want to submit payments in person can do so at the clerk’s window. Cash or checks are accepted at no extra cost. Credit or debit card payments have a processing fee.
