While neighboring counties report more delinquent property taxpayers, Clark County's Treasure is "pleasantly surprised" by the number of filings.July 31st was the deadline to pay the 2nd installment of local property tax bills.
Treasurer Kathy Brugger says some officials were worried the slumping economy would lead to more people behind on their taxes, which would further muddy the already muddy county budget picture.
But, they really haven't seen an increase in late-payers.
There are around 34,400 taxable parcels in Clark County.
Over the past several years, around 1,900 bills have gone unpaid totaling $1.4-million in outstanding payments.
