Former Wausau-Area Resident Sentenced for Theft and Fraud

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 -- 1:00 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A former Wausau-area resident has been sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading no contest to more than a dozen counts related to multiple instances of theft and fraud.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Nacirema Frisch will spend five years in prison and another five years on extended supervision for charges including wire fraud, organizing financial crimes, theft of movable property, and bail jumping.

Court records show she will also pay more than $43,000 in restitution and surcharges to four victims including Kwik Trip and CoVantage Credit Union. The 35-year-old was accused of stealing checks from outgoing mail and depositing them into the victim’s accounts using their personal information.

Later, she would withdraw the funds and thousands more using drive-up ATMs. A fraud prevention specialist at one Wausau financial institution is credited with finding irregularities in the accounts.

Those irregularities matched ATM security camera footage showing someone in Frisch’s vehicle withdrawing funds from those accounts. Frisch will also complete treatment or counseling and submit DNA samples. She will also have a full no-contact order against the victims and their businesses.
