The best way to protect against influenza and its potentially serious complications is with a flu vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) recommends routine annual influenza (flu) vaccinations for everyone age 6 months and older who do not have any contraindications, ideally by the end of October.
Flu vaccination is especially important for people 65 years and older because they are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications. The Clark County Health Department (CCHD) will once again be offering flu vaccine clinics throughout Clark County.
For adults, we will be offering the standard-dose, trivalent vaccine for individuals age 19 and older, as well as the high-dose trivalent vaccine, for individuals age 65 and older. The Covid vaccine will also be available at all of the flu vaccine clinics, while supplies last.
We have partnered with the Indianhead Community Action Agency to offer gift card incentives for individuals age 55+ and/or people with disabilities, for those who receive their flu and/or Covid vaccine ($25 per vaccine).
Individuals may get their flu shot at the Health Department in Neillsville, located in the Court House, Room 105 on Mondays, from 230 to 4pm. Walk ins are welcome, but appointments are appreciated. To make an appointment, you can call our Immunization Hotline at (715) 743-5292.
To better serve individuals living outside of the Neillsville-area, we have scheduled a flu vaccine clinic at the Thorp Fire Department on Tuesday, October 22nd from 9am to 1130am, as well as at the Colby Community Library on Wednesday, October 23rd, starting at 930am, and ending at noon.
Appointments are encouraged, but walk ins are welcome. Various other community-based clinics are scheduled at the public school districts throughout the month of October. Vaccines for children age 6 months through age 18 can get their flu shot at no cost, regardless of insurance status.
For details, please visit the Health Department’s website, or call the Immunization Hotline at (715) 743-5292. Please be sure to have your insurance cards with you, when arriving to the vaccine clinic. We accept Medicare, Advocare, Medicaid/BadgerCare+, Security Health Plan, Security Administrative Services, Aspirus Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield, BPA, and UMR insurance plans.
We also have a private pay option. Acceptable forms of payment include cash or check. It is our hope that these flu vaccine clinics provide a convenient, accessible, and a pleasant experience.
If you have any questions about the flu vaccine clinics or about the flu or Covid vaccines, please call the CCHD’s Immunization Hotline at (715) 743-5292. We are excited to provide this important service & look forward to serving you very soon!
