(Heather Knox, WEAU) An Onalaska resident arrested in relation to a drug overdose death last May appeared in Jackson County Court.
According to Heather Knox with WEAU, Aspen Kalina was arrested on recommended charges of first-degree reckless homicide following an investigation that determined they delivered the drugs that resulted in an overdose death last year.
According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, on May 8, 2023, at about 2:48 a.m., it responded to a report of an unresponsive person in the Town of Albion. The person was later pronounced dead. A toxicology report indicated that the person died from a drug overdose.
An investigation led by a detective from the sheriff’s office provided the evidence to support that the drugs had been delivered to the victim by Kalina. Kalina is facing a charge of reckless homicide - deliver drugs.
During her preliminary hearing, probable cause was found, so her court proceedings will continue. During her arraignment, she entered a not guilty plea to the charge against her.
