Greenwood School Board Discusses Fitness Center

The Greenwood School Board approved opening up the fitness center to Loyal residents at their recent meeting.
The Board approved to open up the fitness center to Loyal School District residents and pay the resident fee to use the District’s Fitness Center with a reevaluation at the end of December 2025. The Board also approved a Literacy Specialist. The Board also approved a donation of school supplies, backpacks, and paper, etc.s from the Loyal Methodist Church.
In employment matters, the Board approved:

REPORTS:
Elementary Principal’s Report (Christy Zierer):
- Spirit Week:
- October 7th – 11th
- Fun dress up days each day of the week.
- Friday the kids will be attending the parade. Notes were sent home.
- EPEC:
- EPEC (Elementary Parents Educators Community) First meeting is October 16th @ 6:00 pm.
- A survey was sent home and published in the newspaper.
- Picture Day:
- Cahill Studios of Photography did a great job taking pictures of our students.
- Retakes will be October 17th.
- Field Trip:
- 3rd grade will be going to the Lucille Tack Center of the Arts on October 21st.
- Key to Literacy (Act 20 training):
- The certified elementary teachers have completed modules 1 & 2.
- Will start module 3 at the beginning of October.
- HRS:
- We had the kickoff on September 27th.
- Staff will be using it to better serve our students.
- Fire Drill:
- We had our first fire drill on September 6th @ 1:45 pm.
- There are some areas that need work.
- Communicating with Del to have the fire personnel to come to the school.
- Grandparents Day:
- We had an amazing attendance for Grandparents Day.
- About 130 grandparents/family members participated.
- There were some grandparents who did a zoom meeting that could not attend in person.
Middle/High School Principal’s Report (Noah Werner):
- School Updates:
- School attendance had been great and we keep encourage our students to continue to be present in school.
- Parent teacher conferences on October 17th from 4-8pm.
- Wisconsin Education Fair
- September 18th juniors attended the Wisconsin Education Fair.
- Students were able to connect with public/private universities, technical colleges, military, and other post-secondary training opportunities.
- HRS Level 2 Kick Off
- September 27th Mike Evans of Marzano was in the district to discuss HRS level 1 & 2.
- Level 2 focuses on Effective Educators in every classroom
- Universal Design for Learning:
- CESA 10 is offering Universal Design for Learning book studies and implementation support.
- After School Homework Help:
- We are offering After School Homework Help for all students on Wednesdays during the school year from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
- Students who are falling behind and missing 5 or more assignments are requested to attend.
- This is also available for student that are not requested.
- FFA:
- Received a 2 – Star Chapter Award.
- These chapters focus on growing leaders, building communities strengthening agriculture, and providing educational experiences for their entire chapter.
- Homecoming:
- October 7th-11th
- Dance is on October 12th
- Theme this year is Family Game Night
District Administrator’s Report (Joe Green):
- CEP Program:
- Donations continue to come in.
- I would like to publicly thank the businesses and organization that are contributing. I don’t think we can do the same for individuals.
- Elementary Air Handlers
- Still waiting for the new motors.
- Milwaukee Referendum Impact:
- School District of Milwaukee had passed a $250 million referendum.
- This will have an estimated $50 million impact on all other school district in the State.
- This mean that our equalization aid will be less from the state.
- Districts would have a larger share of their revenue limit authority coming from local taxes.
- Madison School District had over $600 Million coming to referendum.
- Strategic Panning:
- Discussed future strategic planning.
- Seclusion/Restraint Audit:
- Our ES3 grant team met with our advisor, Resa Hawes, to discuss the root causes for the increase.
- Learned what we can do better.
- This is a state-wide problem due to mental and social health.
- Baird Model
- Chris and Mr. Green met with Baird last week to go over our joint model with no changes to either district.
- Baird, Chris, and Mr. Green are meeting next week to start making some assumptions about what a potential district would look like as far as staffing, facility, and budget.
- Hoping to share the results with the board at the end of October.

- Building and Grounds:
- Sealcoating parking lots.
- Tennis courts: looking at a few options on what to do for resurfacing.
- Possible updates on the garage at the elementary.
- Possibly replacing the green van.
- Football lights are in rough shape.
- Co-Curricular:
- Elementary rec. recap and update.
- Co-op athletic update.
- Homecoming discussion.
