(Mike Leischner, WSAU) The Wausau School Board has passed the recommended 2024-’25 budget and tax levy, setting the stage for final approval at this fall’s annual meeting.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, the approved budget calls for a spending plan of over $118 million along with a $1.42 drop in the mill rate. This means the school portion of taxes on a $100,000 would drop by $142. The board also scheduled the annual meeting for September 23rd, where the budget will be considered for final approval.
The school taxes represent a portion of a property owner’s annual tax bill. The other pieces go to the city, county, and state. Property owners also receive a lottery tax credit, which is based on the Wisconsin Lottery’s profits for the last year.
