Abbotsford Man Accused of Stabbing Two Children Death Found Incompetent for Trial

Thursday, September 5th, 2024 -- 11:00 AM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) The man accused of stabbing his two children to death and then seriously injuring his wife before turning the knife on himself has been deemed incompetent for trial at this time.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, court records show Victor Manuel Gomez Acosta has been committed to a state mental hospital for the next 12 months. He will be re-evaluated every three months, with both sides saying he will likely become competent to aid in his defense before that time is up.

The 29-year-old is facing two counts of intentional homicide and one count of attempted homicide. Each comes with a mandatory life sentence if he’s found guilty. Investigators say he stabbed his children in their Abbotsford home, then attacked his wife.

She required surgery for her injuries but survived. Gomez Acosta was arrested at the scene and treated for stab wounds before he was taken to jail. The case has been suspended and no further action is currently on the docket.
