(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A 40-year-old Wausau man accused of sharing child porn through a messenger app will go to trial next spring.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Jeremy Campbell had been scheduled for a three-day trial in June but that was wiped off the calendar as his defense team tried to find an expert witness.
Court records show the trial has been rescheduled for March 11th and 12th, 2025. Investigators say they received a tip about suspicious activity linked to Campbell’s Snapchat account from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
That included sharing images that had been flagged as child pornography. Further investigation showed suspicious activity between Campbell’s account and that of a pre-teen. Police say he admitted to sending and receiving explicit photos on the app.
Campbell has pled not guilty and is free on a $10,000 signature bond. Further court dates are scheduled for January 23rd and February 10th. If found guilty at trial he faces up to 75 years in prison.
