Pilot Hurt in Plane Crash in Trempealeau County

On August 30th, at 11:40am, the Trempealeau County Dispatch Center received a call of an aircraft that had crashed at Brion Memorial Airport near the Village of Strum.
After officers and rescue personnel arrived on scene, it was determined an ultra-light aircraft had lost power just after take off. The pilot, who was the lone occupant, attempted to make an emergency landing.
During the emergency landing the aircraft struck the top of trees and the aircraft crashed to the ground. The pilot sustained serious injury and was transported to a local hospital by Mayo One Helicopter.
